Welcome to the Unapologetically You Podcast!
In this episode, we discuss what it looks like to be overwhelmed and in a state of inaction or action paralysis.
And then, I give you the roadmap to escaping the cycle and taking action towards your goals NOW!
What it looks like:
What feeling overwhelmed looks like is that you know you have to and want to do all these things and you are not sure where to start or take action from, so instead you decide that another episode of friends or the comfort foods in the fridge will give you the answer, which by the way you know that they will most definitely not.
Classification:
We can broadly classify this Action paralysis into:
Emotional i.e. In your head
Physical i.e On paper
On paper paralysis:
You know that you just havent sat down and planned it.
Here's the roadmap that has helped me navigate this cycle not once, but multiple times:
Step 1: List the things that you need to get done
Step 2: Research (for execution)
Step 3: Now, Break it down (into tangible actionable steps)
Step 4: Assign dates and deadlines
Step 5: DO the work ("Action cures anxiety!")
In your head paralysis
We have to make it something that you can see, analyze and solve.
Level 1: Awareness
Bring awareness to a pattern of making excuses for yourself.
Level 2: Resolution
Decide and resolve to change this pattern.
Level 3: Introspection
Ask yourself this:
"Are my daily habits supporting the life im trying to create? Are my daily habits supporting my goals?"
If the answer is no, then make a list of those habits that do support you around those goals.
now ask yourself, "Why am i not taking action to create the life of my dreams?"
The answer that you get is the root cause of your overwhelm action paralysis. Maybe you have a fear of faliure, maybe you have the fear of embarassment or losing face, maybe you have the fear of being judged.
Once you know the underlying feelings, you can actually deal with them in a very real way.
Level 4: Punch, Kick, Shatter....but with Love
Now that you know what the root cause is, face it and get support around whatever it looks like for you. And remember to have grace with yourself.
Once you know the underlying feelings, you can actually deal with them in a very real way.
So, i'm with you on this journey and im with you in the struggles from step 1 to step 5 and level 1 to level 4.
Let me know what you think, how you felt and share your journey or experience as you go through the steps with me.
It lights me up to see you and see that it made a difference for you.
Until next time,
Stay Unapologetically You!
Love,
